Time-saving tricks for Google Docs

I have been using web-based MS Office alternatives from Google for the past five years, like Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides.

Occasionally, I use Google Forms and Google Diagrams.

Today, many users create a new document in the above apps by following these two steps:

  1. Visit the Home page of Google docs (limiting to Google docs for brevity) and
  2. Click on the new document icon.

Many do not know a better way to create a new document.

Google uses the `.new` domain to provide this one-click time-saving trick to create a new document.

docs.new creates a new file in the Google docs. Going on, try it out!

Google docs team took to twitter to announce this trick in 2018.

Listed below are the domains that act as a shortcut to creating a new file in the corresponding app.

Docs: doc.new, docs.new, document.new
Forms: form.new, forms.new
Sheets: sheet.new, sheets.new, spreadsheet.new
Diagrams: drawing.new, drawings.new
Slides: slides.new, deck.new, presentation.new
