# Time-saving tricks for Google Docs

I have been using web-based MS Office alternatives from Google for the past five years, like Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides.

Occasionally, I use Google Forms and Google Diagrams.

Today, many users create a *new* *document* in the above apps by following these two steps:

1. Visit the Home page of Google docs (limiting to Google docs for brevity) and
2. Click on the new document icon.

Many do not know a better way to create a new document.

> Google uses the \`.new\` domain to provide this one-click time-saving trick to create a new document.
